2025 Rose of Tralee Katelyn Cummins bags high dancing score on Week 1 of Dancing with the Stars
As the dust settled on the Christmas and New Year festivities, viewers all around the country were treated to the return of the iconic dancing series Dancing with the Stars, returning for its 9th series on RTE One. With a star studded lineup of people such as Paudie Moloney from the Traitors, Eurovision winner Niamh Kavanagh, The Apprentice star Jordan Dargan, and singer Brian Kennedy, Rose of Tralee Katelyn Cummins was also amongst the lineup, and in good company for this series.
For the Rose of Tralee viewers, we were all intrigued to see how incumbent Rose Katelyn Cummins would do on the first night with her new partner, and newcomer to the programme, professional dancer Leonardo Lini from Italy. This wouldn't be the first time Katelyn has danced on telly, as when she was onstage at the Rose of Tralee, she and one of the Rose Escorts entertained the audience with a jive onstage together.
Taking to the dance floor, Katelyn and Leonardo performed an intriguing Tango dance to Taylor Swift's 2025 hit "The Fate of Ophelia", performing a series of whirls, waltzes, spins and slides across the floor, resulting in a standing ovation. Then, the judges awarded Katelyn and Leonardo a respectable score of 31 to take them to the top of the leaderboard after all couples performed.
On behalf of our Facebook fan group, we congratulate Katelyn and Leonardo on a great first dance, and we hope you will continue to shine as the competition progresses over the next few weeks.
